In November 2025, City Council endorsed recommendations to transition away from the current Community Action Network (CAN) model to new Community Group Affiliate and Community Grant programs. The new initiatives will support non-profit, volunteer-based groups by offering access to municipal resources, such as meeting space, basic insurance, funding opportunities, and training. Groups will register through an online portal and be assigned a staff liaison. The new programs will commence in early 2027.

Although the Kingsmount Bell Park CAN will dissolve in early 2027, active neighbourhood programs and initiatives such as Heritage Kingsmount-Bell Park, Greater Sudbury Heritage Week, and the St. Peters Church Community Garden will continue to operate under the new initiatives. Our present 2026 allocation of funds will be used to cover general expenses and assist these programs.
